Refining Gameplay & UI

Refining Gameplay & UI

Prompting · 5 min read

Turn a first build into clearer objectives, readable interfaces, and useful feedback.

Test the first minute

Start as a new player. Check whether the spawn, objective, and first interaction are obvious without an explanation. Ask for changes that remove specific confusion.

  • Can the player find the first goal?
  • Does each interaction show a result?
  • Can the player recover after a mistake?

Describe the interface states

Specify when a prompt, counter, shop, or notification appears. Include the empty state, success state, and failure state. Keep the world visible around the interface.

Example prompt

Show an adoption prompt only when the player is near the desk. If they do not have enough coins, show the missing amount. Close the prompt when they walk away.

Check the devices you want to support

Playtest the actual Roblox experience with different screen sizes and input methods. Check that text stays readable and important buttons remain reachable. Browser preview checks do not replace these tests.

Keep a version you can return to

Each completed build saves a project version. Use History to compare and restore an earlier version before trying a different approach. Restoring a version changes the current project state, so review it before applying it in Studio.
